Tyrvaya (varenicline) is a dry eye disease medication that works on specific areas of the nose to increase tear production in the eyes. Tyrvaya is used to treat the signs and symptoms of dry eye disease. This medication comes as a nasal spray solution that is used twice a day.
Read through the medication guide that comes with Tyrvaya to learn the proper technique for administering the nasal spray.
For Tyrvaya administration, it’s important to resist inhaling the mist, avoid spraying into the sinuses, and ensure proper tongue placement on the roof of the mouth.
The most common side effect of Tyrvaya is sneezing, which occurs in 82% of people. Other common side effects reported in 5 to 16% of people were cough, throat irritation, and instillation-site (nose) irritation.
The dosing for Tyrvaya is 1 spray in each nostril 2 times a day about 12 hours apart.
Nasal Solution
0.03 mg/actuation (4.2 mL per bottle)
To treat the signs and symptoms of dry eye disease, spray Tyrvaya once in each nostril twice a day (approximately 12 hours apart).

4.2ml of 0.03mg/act bottle
Prime Tyrvaya before initial use by pumping seven actuations into the air away from the face. When Tyrvaya has not been used for more than five days, re-prime with one spray into the air. Do not shake.
Only use Tyrvaya in the nostril; do not spray in the eyes or mouth.
Prior to use, blow your nose if needed to clear your nostrils.
Tilt your head back slightly without lying down. Insert the applicator into the nostril, pointing the tip toward the top of the ear, leaving space between the tip of the applicator and the wall of the nose.
Place your tongue on the roof of your mouth and breathe gently while pressing the pump to release the spray.
Do not spray directly at the septum (cartilage that divides the nose into two separate chambers).
Wipe the applicator with a clean tissue after each use.
A one-month supply consists of two bottles of nasal solution. Finish the first bottle before opening the second bottle.
Store the nasal spray bottle at room temperature. Do not freeze the bottle.
This medicine should come with a medication guide. Ask your pharmacist for a copy if you do not have one.
If a dose of Tyrvaya is missed, resume regular dosing at the next scheduled dose time.
Tyrvaya does not have any contraindications.
