This FDA-approved medication is available in the form of an intravenous emulsion. It is given as an injection into a vein by a healthcare professional. This treatment is usually done at least 30 minutes before the start of chemotherapy. Your doctor may also instruct you to take another form of this medication orally for the next two days. Follow your doctor's instructions closely while using this medication. Tell your doctor about other drugs that you may currently be using such as ketoconazole, diltiazem or dexamethasone.
Birth control medication and other hormone-based birth control may not work as well to prevent pregnancy if you are using Cinvanti. Implement another form of birth control such as a condom when taking Cinvanti and up to one month after the last dose.
Cinvanti may cause headaches or tiredness. Patients may also experience redness, bruising, or itching at the injection site. Notify your doctor if any of these effects persist or worsen. Most patients using this medication do not experience any serious side effects.
