Eszopiclone is a generic prescription drug that helps people with insomnia fall asleep and stay asleep. It is not a benzodiazepine or similar drug, so there is less concern about physical dependence, tolerance, or withdrawal symptoms as there is for other insomnia medications. There are no restrictions on long-term treatment. Doses are taken once daily before bedtime.
