How to take Fusion

  • Fusion is a high-dose iron supplement. Avoid using it except under the direction of a healthcare provider.

  • Your healthcare provider will tell you how much medicine to use. Do not use more than directed.

  • Follow the instructions on the medicine label if you are using this medicine without a prescription.

  • Take only one capsule per day.

  • Take the capsule between meals (two hours after the last meal and one hour before the next meal).

What to do if you miss a dose of Fusion

  • Take only one capsule per day.

  • If a dose is missed, take it on the same day if remembered.

  • If it’s the next day, skip the missed dose and take that day’s dose as scheduled.

  • Do not take two capsules to make up for a missed dose.

Fusion contraindications

  • This medicine is not right for everyone. 

  • Do not use it if you have had an allergic reaction to any of the ingredients in Fusion.

  • Fusion and other iron supplements should never be taken by people with hemosiderosis (excessive iron deposits in tissues), hemochromatosis (over-absorption of iron by the digestive system), or hemolytic anemias (excessive destruction of red blood cells).

Fusion warnings

  • Fusion is intended as a treatment for iron-deficiency anemia. 

  • Do not use Fusion for several months without talking to a healthcare provider first. 

  • Before using Fusion, consult a healthcare provider if you have a weak immune system.

  • Tell your healthcare provider if you are pregnant or breastfeeding or if you have any food allergies.

  • Keep Fusion and other iron supplements securely out of the reach of children. Accidental iron overdoses are one of the leading causes of death in children younger than 6 years old.

Fusion interactions

  • Tell your healthcare provider about all the prescription drugs, over-the-counter medications, dietary supplements, and foods that you are taking.

  • Iron supplements can worsen high blood pressure in people taking methyldopa so healthcare professionals avoid the combination.

  • Iron supplements can interfere with the body’s absorption of certain drugs, making them less effective. These drugs must be taken at least two hours before or two hours after taking a Fusion capsule. They include:

  • Signs of an overdose such as severe nausea, vomiting, blood in the stools, blue lips, nails, or skin

  • Allergic reaction: Itching or hives, swelling in your face or hands, swelling or tingling in your mouth or throat, chest tightness, trouble breathing
