What is Jencycla?

Jencycla is a generic women's birth control pill with norethindrone, a naturally occurring female hormone (progestin), as the active ingredient. Taken daily, Jencycla helps prevent ovulation (the release of an egg by the ovaries), fertilization, and implantation of an egg.

Jencycla is a mini-pill, that is, it contains only a progestin (norethindrone), but no estrogen, as most birth control pills do.
