Nora-BE is a generic women's birth control pill with norethindrone a naturally occurring female hormone (progestin), as the active ingredient. Progestin-only birth control pills are called “mini-pills.” Most birth control pills combine progestin with estrogen, another female hormone, but mini-pills are often prescribed to women who should not take estrogens, such as nursing women or smokers. Taken daily, Nora-BE prevents ovulation and changes the cervical and uterine linings to prevent sperm movement and fertilized egg attachment. The price for Nora-BE is $48.99. A SingleCare Nora-BE coupon, however, reduces that cost significantly to $6.94. Many local pharmacies – Walmart, Walgreens, Duane Reade, and many more – accept SingleCare savings coupons.

Nora-BE is a generic women's birth control pill with norethindrone a naturally occurring female hormone (progestin), as the active ingredient. Taken daily, Nora-BE helps prevent ovulation (the release of an egg by the ovaries) and changes the cervical and uterine linings to prevent sperm movement and fertilized egg attachment.
Progestin-only birth control pills are called “mini-pills,” because most birth control pills contain both a progestin and an estrogen to ensure maximum protection against pregnancy. Although they are less effective than standard birth control pills, mini-pills are prescribed to nursing women because estrogen decreases milk production, as well as to women who smoke or have high blood pressure. Because mini-pills are less effective as a contraceptive, patients should use other forms of birth control while on Nora-BE.
Nora-BE is taken daily in a 28-day sequence. It is a “monophasic” oral contraceptive, that is, the norethindrone dose remains the same throughout the 28-day sequence. The final 7 “reminder” tablets, however, are placebos to promote menstruation at the end of the monthly cycle and to keep the woman on schedule for the next cycle of pills.
Common side effects of Nora-BE include but are not limited to swelling, bloating, nausea, vomiting, stomach cramps, headache, breast tenderness, menstrual changes, and vaginal itching and discharge. Mood changes are common and include depression and trouble sleeping.
Allergic reactions to Nora-BE are extremely rare but include rashes and hives. Allergic reactions will usually be due to the inactive ingredients in Nora-BE rather than to the norethindrone.
This is not a complete list of side effects. If you have questions or concerns about the possible side effects of Nora-BE, please talk to your physician.
