Orencia Clickject (abatacept) is a prescription drug supplied in an auto-injector, the Clickject. It is prescribed to patients with rheumatoid arthritis, juvenile rheumatoid arthritis, or psoriatic arthritis (arthritis due to psoriasis). All these forms of arthritis are caused by the body's immune system attacking healthy cells in the joints. The active ingredient in Orencia is a protein that inhibits the activation of white blood cells, called T-cells, that attack the healthy tissues in joints. The Clickject allows patients to self-inject Orencia once per week. Each Clickject holds a single dose. They are stored in the refrigerator and must be allowed to warm in the open air to room temperature (about 30 minutes) before injection.
