The active ingredients in Rynex DM are brompheniramine, guaifenesin, and dextromethorphan. Brompheniramine is a decongestant that reduces the swelling of blood vessels in the nose. Guaifenesin belongs to a class of drugs called expectorants, which reduce nasal and airway congestion by loosening the mucus that builds up inside the airways. Dextromethorphan is a cough suppressant. It is an opioid-like drug that reduces coughing by slowing down the part of the brain that causes coughing.
