Tasigna is a brand-name prescription drug used to treat chronic myelogenous leukemia, or CML, a cancer of the bone marrow that causes the overproduction of white blood cells. Normally, white blood cells fight infection, but the white blood cells produced by CML tumors are immature and defective; they eventually crowd out working white blood cells in the body. Nilotinib, the active ingredient in Tasigna, blocks a family of proteins that signal the cancer cells to overproduce white blood cells. Tasigna normally costs $28,072.65 without insurance. A SingleCare Tasigna coupon reduces that price to $7,899.79. You can find more information in our FAQs below.

Tasigna is a brand-name prescription drug with the active ingredient, nilotinib. Generic nilotinib is not available in the United States at this time.
Tasigna is a brand-name drug that treats chronic myelogenous leukemia, or CML, after initial diagnosis and in later stages of the cancer when it has not responded well to other similar drugs. CML is a cancer of the bone marrow that causes the overproduction of white blood cells. The white cells produced by the tumor are immature and defective and eventually crowd out healthy white blood cells.
The active ingredient in Tasigna, nilotinib, blocks the ability of a family of proteins (tyrosine kinases) in the cancer cells that “turn on” the production of white blood cells.
Tasigna is taken as a capsule twice daily. The dosage will vary.
Common side effects of Tasigna include, but are not limited to, nausea, temporary hair loss, headache, itching, skin rash, muscle pain, joint pain, diarrhea, and cold symptoms.
Serious side effects of Tasigna include high blood sugar, liver problems, pancreas problems, bleeding in the brain, and low blood cell counts. Tasigna kills off cancer cells very quickly, which may fill the bloodstream with the contents of those dead cancer cells. This may cause tumor lysis syndrome, a health-threatening condition in which the cancer cell contents poison the body, leading to kidney failure, high blood potassium, low blood calcium, heart problems, and seizures.
Allergic reactions are rare. Watch for important signs of an allergic reaction, such as fever, sore throat, swelling, itching, or rash, and talk to your doctor if you suspect an allergic reaction.
