Fluorometholone essentially works by relieving symptoms such as swelling, redness, and itching. It belongs to a class of drugs known as corticosteroids. Corticosteroids are a class of steroid hormones that are produced in the adrenal cortex of vertebrates, as well as the synthetic analogs of these hormones.
If you have any type of bacterial, fungal, or viral infection of the eye (including herpes) then you should not use Fluorometholone.
