Prednisolone Acetate is an FDA-approved generic medication used to treat itching, redness, swelling, and allergic reactions in the eyes. This medication belongs to a class of drugs known as corticosteroids and works by decreasing inflammatory substances that contribute to swelling, redness, and itching.

Prednisolone Acetate comes in the form of an ophthalmic suspension (eye drops). It is usually instilled as up to 2 drops in the eyes up to four times daily. Wash your hands first before applying the drops. Do not allow the dropper tip of this medication to touch your eye or else it may become contaminated. Your doctor will recommend an appropriate dose for you based on an assessment of your current medical condition, other drugs you are currently taking, and your response to treatment.
